Silent Hill 2 Remake has officially arrived on Xbox Series X|S, ending months of speculation and finally giving Microsoft’s console players the chance to revisit one of horror gaming’s most iconic stories.

Pricing and Editions
Players can choose between two editions of the remake. The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 but is currently discounted to $34.99 / £27.49, while the Deluxe Edition, which includes extras like a digital art book, soundtrack, and a Pyramid Head mask, is listed at $79.99, discounted to $39.99 / £34.99.
For those looking for more, bundle options are also available that pair Silent Hill 2 with Silent Hill f. The two-pack bundle costs $79.99 for the standard version and $95.99 for the deluxe, both reduced from their original higher prices ($99.99 and $119.99, respectively).
One of the most welcome confirmations is that Silent Hill 2 Remake is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. That means if you buy it digitally, you’ll be able to play across both Xbox consoles and PC without needing separate purchases.
Reception and Success
The remake has already proven itself on other platforms. According to Metacritic, critics have given it a “generally favorable” score of 86, while users rated it even higher at 9.1 based on nearly 4,000 reviews. On Steam, the game boasts a 95% positive rating from over 47,000 players. Sales have been strong too, with Konami reporting 2.5 million units sold worldwide across PlayStation 5 and PC.
The success has been so significant that Konami confirmed during its June 2025 Press Start showcase that Bloober Team, the developer behind Silent Hill 2, is now also working on a remake of the original 1999 Silent Hill.
Movie Tie-In
It’s not just the game making headlines. Director Christophe Gans’ upcoming movie adaptation, Return to Silent Hill, has received a new trailer. While it showcases familiar imagery, foggy streets, eerie nurses, Pyramid Head, and Akira Yamaoka’s haunting score, the editing style has raised eyebrows. Some fans are skeptical about whether it captures the subdued melancholy of the original game. Still, we’ll know for sure when the film hits cinemas on January 23, 2026.
