EA’s reboot of Skate is drawing serious attention, with over one million players already signed up for its upcoming playtest — a record-breaking figure for the company.

Unlike the offline, level-based experience of Skate 3, this new entry is being developed as a free-to-play, always-online sandbox by EA’s Full Circle studio. The focus? Cross-play, user-generated content, and long-term live service support. Simply put, it’s Skate for the modern era.

According to EA, this playtest is officially the largest in its history, reflecting just how long fans have been waiting. It’s been over a decade since the last Skate game, and the sheer demand speaks volumes.

Those who registered before June 27 will receive their invitation by the end of July. PC users will access the test through the EA App, while console players can redeem codes directly on their systems once they receive the invite.

The scale of sign-ups not only shows the franchise’s loyal fanbase but also proves there’s still a huge appetite for skateboarding games in 2025.

EA first announced the return of the series in 2020, and early access is expected to arrive in late summer 2025.
