1047 Games has officially announced that Splitgate 2 will relaunch as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded on December 17, 2025.
The game will be free-to-play across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms, marking a fresh start for the portal-based shooter after a rocky launch.

The relaunch follows the unusual “unlaunch” of Splitgate 2 earlier in 2025. The game was originally released in June but quickly faced criticism for missing features, confusing monetization, and gameplay changes that didn’t resonate with fans. Player numbers dropped rapidly, and by July, 1047 Games announced it would temporarily wind down support while working on a new version with sweeping changes.
At the time, CEO Ian Proulx admitted that Splitgate 2 was “not a finished product yet” and emphasized that fans wanted something closer to the original Splitgate. He promised improvements such as leaderboards, better progression, more portal walls, and adjustments to game modes. Proulx also noted that the team wanted to simplify the season pass and monetization while keeping the game free-to-play.
So what’s new in Splitgate: Arena Reloaded? According to 1047 Games, the update reimagines everything from core combat to the user interface. Major changes include:
Removal of Factions, Abilities, and select equipment to refocus on classic arena combat
Rebuilt progression from the ground up and overhauled the Ranked system
Introduced 5 new, and 6 fully-reworked maps, 3 new Primary Weapons, and 1 new Power Weapon: the Railgun
New Arena modes, playlist selection, and a true Classic Arena mode with even starts and powerups
Reduced store prices, simplified the Battle Pass, and improved overall cosmetic quality
A video featuring design director Josh Watson, formerly of Rocket League, highlights additional features such as player stats, leaderboards, and a career system.
1047 Games also announced a mini-documentary releasing on December 9 that will chronicle the evolution of the franchise and the studio’s commitment to community-driven development. Watson described the project as a “love letter to the arena shooters we grew up playing,” while Proulx credited the community for guiding the team back to the arena-focused roots of the series.
SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded will be available on PC (Steam, Epic Game Store, Windows), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
