1047 Games is giving its portal‑based shooter a fresh start. The studio has confirmed that Splitgate: Arena Reloaded will officially relaunch on December 17, 2025, across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation as a free‑to‑play title.

This marks a major reset for the franchise after the unusual “unlaunch” of Splitgate 2 earlier this year. Originally released in June, Splitgate 2 quickly faced backlash over missing features, confusing monetization, and gameplay changes that didn’t resonate with fans. Player numbers dropped sharply, and by July, 1047 Games announced it would wind down support while reworking the game from the ground up.

CEO Ian Proulx admitted at the time that Splitgate 2 was “not a finished product yet,” promising to bring back features closer to the original Splitgate experience. That included leaderboards, better progression, more portal walls, and simplified monetization. Arena Reloaded now represents the studio’s attempt to deliver on those promises.

What’s New in Arena Reloaded

According to 1047 Games, the relaunch reimagines everything from combat to progression systems. Key changes include:

  • Classic Arena Focus: Removal of factions, abilities, and select equipment to refocus on traditional arena combat.

  • Progression Overhaul: A rebuilt career system with rookie and challenger levels, plus new prestige cosmetics.

  • Ranked System: Redesigned ranked play with placement matches, skill‑based matchmaking, and leaderboards.

  • Maps & Modes: Five new maps, six reworked maps, new arena modes, and a true Classic Arena mode with even starts.

  • Weapons: Introduction of three new primary LMGs and a new power weapon, the Railgun.

  • Portal Mechanics: New tools like Portal Overloading and EMP grenades to counter portal play.

  • Battle Pass: Streamlined into a linear track with over 115 rewards, plus Premium ($10) and Ultra Pass ($20; 25 tier skips) options.

  • Store Updates: Lower bundle prices (nothing above $20), improved cosmetic quality, and automatic Splitcoin reimbursements for past purchases.

  • Performance Gains: Optimizations for smoother framerates, reduced stutters, and, most importantly, better playability on last‑gen consoles and lower‑end PCs.

Looking Ahead

In its official blog, 1047 Games emphasized that Arena Reloaded is more than a patch — it’s a full relaunch designed to restore the identity of Splitgate while modernizing its systems. “We took your feedback seriously and have been working tirelessly to meet your expectations for a true sequel,” the studio noted.

With new maps, weapons, and a rebuilt progression system, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded aims to win back players who felt let down earlier this year. The relaunch also sets the stage for ongoing updates, with 1047 Games promising more content in the months ahead.
