EA Sports FC players will soon be able to listen to their own Spotify music while playing the game. This new feature answers long-standing requests from fans who wanted to enjoy their personal playlists while on the virtual pitch.
For years, the FIFA series (now known as EA Sports FC) has been famous for its carefully selected soundtracks featuring popular artists. From classic tracks like Blur's "Song #2," John Newman’s “Love Me Again,” Foals’ “My Number,” and Caesars’ “Jerk it Out,” to modern hits like Billie Eilish's "CHIHIRO," the game's music has become an important part of the experience. However, players have always wanted the option to listen to their own music collections instead.
According to an April 30 announcement from Spotify, this wish is finally becoming reality. The music streaming service is partnering with EA Sports to bring full Spotify compatibility to the football game series.
The feature is currently being tested in Australia and Saudi Arabia, with plans for a worldwide rollout in the future. The complete integration will likely arrive with EA FC 26, the next edition of the game.
Players in the test regions can access the feature directly from the game's main menu. After linking their Spotify Premium accounts, they can select their preferred music or podcasts to play during gameplay.
The new system improves upon current workarounds that require using the console's separate Spotify app, which often creates audio conflicts with in-game sounds. With the official integration, players can easily control their music without leaving the game, using either an in-game tab or their mobile phone to skip tracks or change songs.
Players will also have the option to switch their default audio from commentary to Spotify. When a new track begins playing, an on-screen display will show the current song information.
