Developer Shift Up has released a new gameplay video showcasing Stellar Blade running smoothly on the Steam Deck, ahead of its highly anticipated PC launch this June.
This demonstration fulfills earlier promises from the Korean studio, which had stated its intention to optimize the PC version for UMPC (Ultra-Mobile PC) devices like the Steam Deck. In their words, the goal was to "ensure smooth gameplay even in UMPC environments."
Stellar Blade has already enjoyed commercial success, selling over one million copies within two months of its initial release. The game has been praised for its stunning visuals and tight, engaging combat, although some critics were less enthusiastic about its narrative.
The Windows PC version is set to launch in June 2025, with Shift Up positioning this release as a key step in reaching a wider audience beyond PlayStation consoles.
The company has emphasized the importance of the PC market, stating that “PC devices have a higher market share than consoles,” and suggesting that they expect the PC edition to potentially outperform the PS5 version in sales.
Industry analysts point out that focusing on handheld optimization is a smart business move, as the Steam Deck has reportedly sold millions of units, and demand for compatible games continues to grow.
If Stellar Blade earns official Steam Deck verification, it could benefit from increased visibility on the platform and solid performance across other handheld PCs, like Asus ROG Ally X.
