Storm Lancers developer ProbablyMonsters has confirmed it has fired its employee after he made controversial remarks online about the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk.

What Happened
On September 22, 2025, ProbablyMonsters announced via X that it had dismissed an employee for “offensive” comments about Kirk’s death, citing violations of its social media policy.
“Respect is one of our core values. Comments recently made by a former employee about Charlie Kirk’s death were offensive and violated our social media policy. We do not tolerate this behavior, and the individual is no longer with the company,” the studio said.
The employee in question is Light Humphreys, global marketing manager at ProbablyMonsters. Humphreys posted a series of remarks about Kirk on Meta’s Threads platform just a day after his assassination. His posts included:
“Charlie Kirk's epitaph should read 'Worth it for the second amendment.’”
“What if Charlie wasn't killed for his beliefs and it was like his scorned gay lover or something? All I'm saying is we're jumping to conclusions here.”

Although Humphreys quickly deleted the posts and his Threads, Instagram and LinkedIn profiles were subsequently removed, the comments went viral on Twitter/X on September 20, sparking significant backlash from right-wing audiences.
Within days, the studio confirmed that the employee was no longer with the company.
Broader Industry Fallout
Humphreys’ firing is the latest in a growing series of disciplinary actions across the gaming industry connected to Kirk’s assassination.
Sucker Punch Productions dismissed a senior artist working on Ghost of Yotei after she made a similar joke about the killing.
Void Interactive cut ties with the Ready or Not community manager following controversial comments made on the game’s official Discord.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has acknowledged that it is “aware of the views expressed by a small subset of our employees regarding recent events” and is conducting internal reviews. This statement followed Elon Musk tagging Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in a post on X, questioning why alleged Activision Blizzard employees had been “trashing Charlie Kirk” online.
Other major publishers, including Square Enix, Games Workshop (Warhammer), and Bethesda, are also facing calls from certain social media users to discipline employees for online comments about Kirk.
