Sucker Punch Says Ghost of Yotei DLC Could Happen — But Only If Fans Truly Want It

Ghost of Yotei, released earlier this month as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, has quickly become one of 2025’s most acclaimed titles. Acting as a spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, the game follows mercenary Atsu on her journey through Edo, seeking revenge for her family’s murder. With glowing reviews placing it alongside heavyweights like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, it’s no surprise that fans are already asking the big question: will there be DLC?

In a recent interview with Game Informer, co-director Jason Connell and lead writer Ian Ryan addressed the possibility. Connell explained that the team is currently focused on listening to players and seeing what resonates most. “We’re at the spot in the project where we just get to put it out there and see what people love, what they wish they knew more about Atsu,” Connell said. He compared the situation to Ghost of Tsushima’s Iki Island DLC, which expanded on Jin’s father, a character only briefly touched on in the main story.

Connell added that DLC isn’t guaranteed, but the studio is open to exploring Atsu’s world further if it feels right. “You get this rare opportunity to actually listen to millions of people about what resonated within a story versus what didn’t,” he explained. “Certainly we love Atsu, and just like with Jin, if there’s room to improve or bring new elements to life, we’ll take a hard look at that.”

Lead writer Ian further added that while Atsu’s revenge arc feels complete, her journey is far from over. “She’s just learning to live again without her brother, stepping into a surrogate mother role for her niece,” Ian said. “Revenge is now fully behind her, but she's not fully healed. She's healed a lot, and she's learned to see a future beyond revenge. But what that future is? Is it just going to be smooth sailing? I think absolutely not. And that's one of the interesting things about Atsu’s story that also makes it, really relatable.”

For now, the studio is taking a wait-and-see approach, letting the community’s response guide its next steps.
