Tekken 8 made its EWC debut last year with an unforgettable final — FREECS’ star Lim "Ulsan" Soo-hoon secured a dramatic 5-0 sweep in the Grand Finals, completing his revenge arc after teammate CBM’s earlier elimination.
The event drew an impressive 741k viewers over its 22 hours of broadcast, with a peak of 60,509 viewers during the grand final. This event ranks among the top-most-watched TEKKEN esports tournaments of 2024, alongside major events like EVO 2024, EVO Japan 2024, and Combo Breaker 2024 T8 as per Esports Charts. Thanks to its success, Tekken 8 is confirmed as an EWC title through at least 2026.
Tekken 8 Prize Pool at EWC 2025
Just like last year, Tekken 8 boasts a $1 million USD prize pool, with the champion receiving a $300,000 Grand Prize, as well as 1,000 club points.
The remaining prize will be distributed as follows:
2nd Place: $140,000, 600 points
3rd-4th Place: $75,000, 275 points each
5th-8th Place: $45,000, 60 points each
9th-12th Place: $20,000 each
13th-16th Place:$12,500 each
17th-24th Place: $7,500 each
25th-32nd Place: $5,000 each

Qualifiers
To make it to the big stage, players must qualify through one of several international events:
EVO Japan 2025 – 4 players
Combo Breaker 2025 – 4 players
BAM Australia 2025 – 4 players
CEO 2025 – 4 players
The MIXUP 2025 – 4 players
Evo USA 2025 – 4 players
Heartstomper 2025 – 1 player
Riyadh Clash 2 – 1 player
Brussels Challenge 2025 – 1 player
Last Chance Qualifier (EWC) – 4 players
Returning Champion (Ulsan) – 1 automatic slot
That brings the total to 32 players.
Phase 1
32 players are split into 8 GSL-style groups of 4.
All matches are best-of-3.
Top 2 from each group advance to Phase 2.
Phase 2
16 players are split into 4 groups of 4.
Again, matches are best-of-3.
Top 2 from each group move to Phase 3.
Phase 3 (Final Bracket)
The top 8 players face off in a single-elimination bracket.
Matches become best-of-9.
Includes a third-place match before the Grand Finals.
