The Division 2 hit a record high of 23,563 concurrent players on Steam after Ubisoft revealed a detailed content roadmap running through 2026.
Just a week earlier, the game had around 3,500 to 4,000 players, making this surge a massive 500%+ increase in a matter of days.
The previous peak of around 14,000 players had held strong for over three years since the game’s debut on Valve’s platform, but that milestone has now been decisively surpassed.
Ubisoft recently marked The Division franchise’s tenth anniversary and used the occasion to unveil an exciting vision for the game’s future.
It is worth noting that Steam has never been The Division 2's primary home on PC. The bulk of its player base has traditionally lived on Ubisoft's own launcher and storefront.
The excitement was not limited to Steam either. According to StreamCharts, The Division 2 surged up the Twitch charts at the same time, pulling in more than 37,000 simultaneous viewers during the roadmap reveal.
Here’s a look at what Ubisoft has outlined in its roadmap:
Crossplay is finally being introduced.
Rise Up, a free seasonal update, launches in April and pits players against the Black Tusk faction.
PvP balancing updates to make Dark Zone and multiplayer combat feel more fair and fluid.
Classified Assignments are making a return.
A new Incursion called Steel Creek drops players into a hydroelectric dam under siege.
Survivors is back as a rebuilt extraction experience, set in a blizzard-struck Washington DC.
A brand new DLC set in Central Park, New York City is in development, marking the first time players will be able to enter that location.
Central Park was never accessible in the original game, which launched back in 2016. In The Division's lore, it was described as a mass grave for those who perished during the outbreak. Many are already speculating that this DLC could be the darkest chapter the franchise has ever produced.
