Embark Studios' arena shooter "The Finals" is launching its first major esports competition in partnership with DreamHack and ESL FACEIT Group.
The event will take place at DreamHack Stockholm on November 28-29, 2025, featuring a $100,000 prize pool.
Teams will compete in qualifying rounds starting in September across North America, Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions.
Open qualifiers will narrow down the field, with successful teams moving to closed qualifiers that will be broadcast live for fans to watch.
The top 16 teams from these qualifying rounds will advance to the main event in Stockholm.
Andreas Jernberg, Managing Director of EFG Nordics, expressed enthusiasm about the tournament venue:
"We are incredibly excited that The Finals' first major tournament will be held at DreamHack Stockholm. Embark Studios is a Swedish game studio, and it feels great that DreamHack is the place that promotes Swedish gaming culture by being a global showcase."
Since its 2023 release, The Finals has offered players a fresh alternative in the first-person shooter genre. According to SteamDB, the game initially exploded with over 240,000 players on Steam and received praise for its innovative gameplay. However, recent months have seen numbers fluctuate between 12,000 and 27,000 Steam players.
While this upcoming Major represents the first official tournament organized by Embark Studios itself, the game's competitive potential has already been tested through third-party events like Twitch Rivals and The Finals Masters Series. In collaboration with Skyesports, they also organized several IP events in India.
