Travis Scott was once set to enter the virtual ring — as part of WWE 2K25’s May-released New Wave Pack. But after a reported breakdown in his relationship with WWE, the rapper’s cameo plans were scrapped, and the mystery of the missing DLC celebrity has now been resolved.

When 2K Games first launched the New Wave Pack in May 2025, fans were quick to notice that the previously teased “celebrity guest” was absent. The pack, which included fresh wrestling talent like Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley), was missing its star-studded surprise. Developer Visual Concepts had originally promised the guest would arrive later, but no official details were given — until now.

As per a report by Wrestling Observer (shared via Insider Gaming), Travis Scott was indeed supposed to be that celebrity addition. The Houston rapper, known for his larger-than-life performances and pop culture crossovers, was involved in the John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes storyline during WrestleMania earlier this year. However, the report claims that Scott and WWE had a “falling out” in the months leading up to the DLC’s release. That dispute ultimately led to his quiet removal from the game’s plans.

Instead of Scott, players will now receive El Grande Americano, a current WWE character who debuted earlier this year on Monday Night Raw. In an announcement made in mid-July, 2K confirmed that the masked luchador would officially replace the celebrity spot in the New Wave Pack. He comes complete with his own unique entrance video, theme music, and moveset, and will be available to those who own the pack, the Season Pass, or any premium editions of the game like the Deadman or Bloodline Editions.

While El Grande Americano is a fun addition with his American-flag-themed costume and high-energy move set, some fans aren’t exactly thrilled with the change. Many online believe this new addition feels more like a creative workaround than a true replacement—especially for those who were hoping to see a big-name celebrity like Travis Scott in the ring.

It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the only change possibly linked to Scott’s departure. According to the same report, Aleister Black’s recent addition to the WrestleMania 41 DLC may have also been a substitution after the Travis Scott deal fell apart.

Even with the unexpected celebrity shake-up, WWE 2K25 continues to enjoy solid commercial success. The game ranked 20th among U.S. best-sellers for June 2025 and currently sits at number seven for the year overall, according to Circana data. Its launch on Nintendo Switch 2 this week also marks the franchise’s return to Nintendo platforms, potentially drawing in a fresh wave of players.

WWE fans can look forward to El Grande Americano’s arrival in September. 2K also introduced the Dunk & Destruction Pack with Shaquille O'Neal and the Fearless Pack with KSI as guest celebrities in recent months.
