Ubisoft has officially confirmed that a new Ghost Recon game is in development, and this time, it's taking a first-person shooter approach.

The news surfaced during a recent Ubisoft shareholder meeting, as reported by Stephen Totilo of Game File (via Insider Gaming).

During the discussion, CEO Yves Guillemot referenced the upcoming Ghost Recon project while speaking about Ubisoft's broader push into live service games. He mentioned that the company is focusing on “enhancing current experiences” while also “capitalizing on upcoming launches, such as The Division and Ghost Recon.”

Following that, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet addressed questions about the company’s investment partnership with Tencent. He stated that funds from Tencent would support the development of major franchises, citing Ghost Recon as a key example within Ubisoft’s first-person shooter lineup. He also emphasized plans to strengthen live-service titles like The Crew and For Honor.

As per previous reports, the next mainline Ghost Recon title is codenamed Project Ovr. It is reportedly set during a fictional conflict known as the Naiman War and draws heavy inspiration from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

According to the same report, Project Ovr is expected to enter internal alpha testing later in 2025. While Ubisoft hasn’t shared a public release window, current timelines suggest the game could launch sometime in late 2026.
