For the first time since its inception in 2020, Ubisoft will not be hosting its annual Ubisoft Forward showcase in 2025.
The news was first reported by Game File’s Stephen Totilo, who received confirmation from a Ubisoft representative.
In a statement, a Ubisoft representative said the company is "always eager to connect with our players and showcase our games," adding that it is "continuing to explore opportunities to share updates" and will provide more information "at a later date." However, no specific reason was offered for skipping this year’s event or whether it will return in 2026.
Ubisoft Will Still Appear at Other Summer Events
Despite the absence of its flagship showcase, Ubisoft is not staying completely silent. The company is scheduled to participate in several other events during this summer's game announcement season, including IGN Live on June 7–8 and the PC Gaming Show on June 8. Ubisoft also plans to make an appearance at Gamescom 2025 later this year.
Signs of a Larger Shift
The decision to step back from its usual showcase is hardly surprising given Ubisoft’s current state. The publisher is navigating a significant internal reorganization following its deal with Tencent, which may result in layoffs. Major franchises such as Splinter Cell remain in limbo, and several high-profile titles are still deep in development with no clear release dates.
Further complicating matters, the company continues to grapple with legal and reputational issues. Several former Ubisoft executives are currently facing trial related to long-standing allegations of workplace harassment.
While Assassin’s Creed Shadows has generated positive buzz, it stands out as one of the few bright spots following a string of underperforming projects. Most recently, Ubisoft's free-to-play shooter XDefiant was quietly shut down, barely making a dent in the multiplayer landscape.
With no Ubisoft Forward this year, fans will need to rely on appearances at third-party events to get updates on the publisher’s upcoming titles.
