Battlefield 6 has won the UK Game of the Year title at the UKIE Game Awards 2026, held in London on the evening of March 5, 2026.

The first-person shooter also picked up the Best UK PC Game award on the same night.

The annual awards are organized by UKIE, the trade body for the UK's games and interactive entertainment industry, "to celebrate the exceptional talent that propels the UK’s video games sector."

Battlefield 6, developed by Criterion Games, a Guildford-based studio under Battlefield Studios, became a massive hit, selling over 7 million copies in just three days. This marked the biggest launch in the franchise’s history and secured its spot as the best-selling game of 2025 in the United States.

The awards body noted that the studio "demonstrated technical ambition and creative leadership on one of games' most iconic franchises, proving British studios remain at the forefront of AAA development."

Other winners include Rebellion's Atomfall, which took home Best UK Console Game. The Oxford-based studio delivered what the awards described as "a distinctly British open-world experience set in an alternate-history 1960s England." The game attracted over 2.5 million players in its opening fortnight.

Brighton-based FuturLab won Best UK Mobile Game for PowerWash Simulator.

On the mixed reality front, Train Sim World VR: New York from Just Add Water and Dovetail Games claimed the Best UK Mixed Reality Game award.

Glowmade's King of Meat picked up Best UK User-Generated Content. It is worth noting that last month, Amazon Game Studios announced the game's servers would be shutting down on April 9, 2026, after the online multiplayer title had not "found the audience it hoped for." A bittersweet win, but a recognition of the craft behind it nonetheless.

On the industry side, Playstack won Best UK Publisher for the second consecutive year.

Best UK Developer went to Farnborough-based nDreams, which unfortunately announced restructuring plans the same day, involving “significant” staff cuts and the closure of two studios.

Four seasoned industry figures were inducted into the UK Games Industry Hall of Fame, including Debbie Bestwick, Richard Bartle, Jon Ingold, and Kristian Segerstrale.
