Battlefield 6 emerged as the best-selling game of 2025 in the United States, according to recent data released by Circana’s Mat Piscatella.
DICE's latest shooter managed to secure the top spot despite launching in October, outselling every other title released throughout the year in just under 3 months.
NBA 2K26 held firm at second place, while Borderlands 4 and Monster Hunter: Wilds swapped positions to claim third and fourth, respectively.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 rounded out the top five, marking a notable departure from the franchise's usual dominance in annual sales charts.
Sports titles continued to show their enduring popularity in the U.S. market, with Madden NFL 26, EA Sports College Football 26, EA Sports FC 26, MLB: The Show 25, and WWE 2K25 all landing within the top 20.
Evergreen hits like Minecraft and GTA 5 also made the list, proving once again that older releases can maintain impressive sales momentum.

Hardware Performance

Hardware was the standout performer, thanks largely to the Nintendo Switch 2. The console led the market in both unit and dollar sales for December and for 2025 overall.
According to Mat Piscatella, Switch 2 sold 4.4 million units in the U.S. within 7 months, making it the fastest-selling console in history. Sales are currently running 35% ahead of PlayStation 4’s trajectory in the same timeframe.
PlayStation 5 ranked second in both metrics, while Xbox placed third. Xbox hardware struggled in 2025, with unit sales down roughly 50% and revenue down around 40%.
Month-to-month performance also highlighted challenges: console unit sales in December fell 8% year-over-year, and November marked the worst spending month for consoles in two decades with a 27% decline.
