After years of anticipation and multiple delays, Unbeatable, the debut rhythm adventure from indie studio D-CELL GAMES, is set to release digitally worldwide on December 9, 2025.
The game will be available across PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, marking the studio’s first full release under publisher Playstack.

This project has been a long time coming. Originally funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2021, Unbeatable quickly gained attention with prototype demos that showcased its unique blend of rhythm gameplay and narrative-driven storytelling. Over time, it built a cult following, thanks to its striking hand-drawn anime visuals and emotional themes.
At its heart, Unbeatable tells the story of Beat, a rebellious musician living in a dystopian society where music is outlawed. Players follow her journey as she reconnects with estranged bandmates, stages underground gigs, and defies authoritarian enforcers. The narrative blends themes of friendship, rebellion, and the transformative power of art, creating a heartfelt coming-of-age tale wrapped in a rock opera aesthetic.
Gameplay alternates between story-driven performances where you’ll hit quick-time events and button prompts to “fight” through songs, and an Arcade mode designed for score-chasing and replayability. With a full double album of original tracks, plus acoustic versions and remixes, the soundtrack is as central to the experience as the gameplay itself.
Unbeatable was originally expected to launch on November 6, but the studio pushed the date at the last moment. According to the developers’ note on Steam, a low-frequency but serious progression blocker surfaced during QA that made the build “unreleasable.” Fixing it would have also delayed console certification timelines, which the team wanted to avoid.
Instead of splitting the release across platforms, the studio chose to delay all versions and launch them simultaneously. The December date, they explained, was picked partly because the crowded November release slate left no realistic alternative window.
Despite the delay, developers expressed excitement, noting that fans “still don’t know how much this game really is” and emphasizing how special the project has become over its seven-year development cycle.
