Xbox Game Pass Mobile App Shut Down, Features Now in Main Xbox App

Xbox Game Pass Mobile App

Microsoft has officially closed the Xbox Game Pass mobile app, ending its standalone existence. Users must now use the main Xbox app for all Game Pass features.

The shutdown comes nearly a year and a half after Microsoft stopped allowing new downloads of the dedicated Game Pass app. This move is part of Microsoft's plan, announced in September 2023, to combine its Xbox mobile apps into a single platform.

Xbox players must now use the main Xbox mobile app for everything Game Pass-related. This includes looking through the game catalog, managing their subscription, and getting notifications about new games. According to Microsoft, Game Pass Ultimate members can still access and claim their exclusive perks through this updated app.

Users can still remotely pre-install games to their consoles—a popular feature from the original Game Pass app.

While Microsoft's goal is to create a more centralized mobile experience, some players have expressed disappointment with the change. Several users complained about having to navigate through the broader Xbox app, which includes many features unrelated to Game Pass and can feel more cluttered than the streamlined, Game Pass-focused app they were used to.

Despite this small setback for some users, Xbox Game Pass continues to expand its offerings. The service added 9 new games in March alone, including the new release Atomfall and EA's popular College Football 25.
