Microsoft has officially unveiled the first wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in September 2025, and the lineup is headlined by none other than Hollow Knight: Silksong. After years of anticipation, the sequel to Team Cherry’s critically acclaimed Metroidvania will be available on day one across Cloud, Console, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.
The announcement, made via Xbox Wire, also includes a mix of fresh indie releases, returning favorites, and new content drops.
Kicking things off is I Am Your Beast, a shortform FPS revenge thriller now available across all platforms. Set in the North American wilderness, you’re hunted by the military-industrial complex and must use enemy gear, tunnel networks, and brutal tactics to survive. Critics highlight its stylish combat, intense pacing, and excellent soundtrack. Some noted the story is thin, but the gameplay delivers a strong power fantasy.
On September 3, Nine Sols joins the roster for Xbox Series X|S. This hand-drawn 2D action-platformer blends Sekiro-style deflection combat with a rich sci-fi fantasy setting. It is widely praised for its combat depth, emotional storytelling, and unique setting, even considered a sleeper GOTY contender by indie critics.
The following day, September 4, marks the arrival of Silksong, along with Cataclismo, a PC-exclusive real-time strategy game focused on fortress-building and survival against endless waves of horrors. It currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with critics praising its Lego-like building system, dark fantasy aesthetic, and replayability.
Also dropping this month is PAW Patrol World, returning to the Game Pass library on September 10. Designed for younger audiences and families, the game offers a 3D adventure experience featuring all the familiar pups and vehicles from the hit cartoon. Reception, however, is mixed to positive. Critics say it’s perfect for preschoolers, with simple controls and colorful environments, but some noted repetitive gameplay and lack of progression depth
On September 16, RoadCraft enters the lineup, a construction simulator vehicle sim, tasking players with rebuilding infrastructure in disaster-struck environments using over 40 realistic construction vehicles. Features realistic terrain physics, co-op play, and a job system that organically expands the map. The game also has strong reviews (OpenCritic score: 81), praised for its depth, challenge, and satisfying progression. Some criticism for clunky UI and weak AI, but manual driving is a highlight.
