Battlefield 6’s upcoming free-to-play battle royale, rumored to be called RedSec, will reportedly launch with only Duos and Squads as playable modes. That means you’ll be able to drop in with a partner or a team of four, but not solo or in larger groups, at least for now.

The information comes from ModernWarzone, a source that has previously leaked accurate details about Call of Duty and Battlefield. According to their earlier report, RedSec is expected to shadow drop on October 28, lining up with the start of Battlefield 6’s first season. If true, this would be a bold move by EA, dropping a major new mode without the usual marketing buildup.
At launch, the 100-player matches will be structured around either 50 teams of two or 25 squads of four. While that setup sounds intense, it may leave some players disappointed, especially those who prefer to go solo or experiment with larger team sizes. Thankfully, the insider suggests this limitation is temporary, with more options likely to be added in future updates.

The timing makes sense. Battlefield has been steadily regaining momentum since its release earlier this month, and a polished battle royale could help it compete with genre giants like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone. Just a heads-up, Warzone originally launched with only trios back in March 2020.
