Battlefield Hardline is ending support on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Battlefield communications team made the announcement on March 23, 2026.
According to the official statement, starting Friday, May 22, 2026, the game will no longer be available for purchase on PS4 and Xbox One. That includes the base game and all related extra content such as DLC.
Then, exactly one month later on Monday, June 22, 2026, online services for both platforms will shut down for good.
Players who already own the game will still be able to enjoy the single-player campaign after that date, so it is not a complete loss for those who have it in their library.
The good news is that PC players have nothing to worry about. Battlefield Hardline on PC will remain available, including online services.
Battlefield Hardline originally launched back in March 2015, developed by Visceral Games with some additional support from DICE, and published by Electronic Arts. It was the 14th installment in the long-running Battlefield franchise.
What made it stand out was its sharp departure from the series' traditional military warfare formula. Instead of soldiers and large-scale global conflicts, the game leaned into a cops vs criminals theme, heavily inspired by TV crime dramas like Miami Vice and The Wire.
The tagline said it all really: "Be the law or break the law." It was a fresh angle for the series, and many players appreciated that. The game moved over a million units in its first week and went on to sell more than 8 million copies over its lifetime.
Reviews at launch were mixed, landing around the 70 to 73 range on Metacritic. Critics gave credit where it was due, praising the unique cops-and-robbers multiplayer modes, particularly Hotwire, along with its accessibility and voice acting. On the flip side, the single-player story was considered fairly average, and the stealth mechanics were not exactly a highlight.
Over time though, it has quietly built up a cult following among fans who see it as an underrated and fun spin-off in the Battlefield lineup.
As for why this is happening now, the reasoning is fairly straightforward. The PS4 and Xbox One are now well over a decade old, and the industry has been gradually stepping away from last-gen hardware for a while. Battlefield Hardline is far from alone in this regard.
The First Descendant ended playability on PS4 and Xbox One after a patch in June, 2025. PUBG: Battlegrounds ended support on PS4 and Xbox One back in November 2025. THE FINALS dropped PS4 support just last week with Season 10. Genshin Impact is set to end PS4 support in April 2026.
