PUBG: Battlegrounds is officially saying goodbye to the old consoles and moving full speed ahead into the current generation. Starting November 13, 2025, the game will end support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, transitioning entirely to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This marks a major moment for the long-running battle royale, which first hit consoles back in 2018 and has been evolving ever since.
For fans who’ve stuck around since the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds days, this shift is both a farewell and a fresh beginning. The new version promises smoother performance, better visuals, and a more stable experience overall.

Release Timing and Preload Details
PUBG’s Update 38.2 will go live after a scheduled maintenance window on November 13 from 01:00 to 12:00 UTC. Players eager to jump in early can preload the new-gen versions starting November 12 at 02:00 UTC.

After the transition, PUBG will only support PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. And yes, the performance boost is real.

What Happens to Old Accounts and Progress
Don’t worry about losing your progress. PUBG confirmed that all existing data, cosmetics, and purchases will carry over to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There’s no need for a transfer; just log in on your new console, and you’re good to go.
However, PlayStation users will need to download the PS5 version separately, as settings from PS4 won’t carry over. On Xbox, the upgrade will be automatic via Smart Delivery.
One small downside: PlayStation trophies will reset due to technical limitations, though Xbox achievements will remain intact.
Why PUBG Is Ending Old-Gen Support
As per the developers, the move was made to ensure better performance, higher stability, and a more consistent experience for all console players. They noted that this decision wasn’t made lightly but was necessary to “align PUBG Console with modern standards” and future updates.
The PS4 and Xbox One versions will no longer be downloadable or playable after November 13, marking the end of an era for last-gen PUBG fans.
