Activision appears to have accidentally revealed two upcoming multiplayer modes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, giving fans a surprise sneak peek at what’s to come — including a large-scale 20v20 mode featuring wingsuits.
This unintentional reveal came through the Call of Duty app on Xbox, where an internal developer message was mistakenly sent out to all players instead of just the intended internal testers. As spotted by CharlieIntel, the leak spilled details about two new game modes: Skirmish and Overload, along with fresh in-game screenshots.
Black Ops 7 was officially announced earlier this month during the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. While the reveal trailer didn’t showcase gameplay, it confirmed the game's timeline is set in 2035, directly following the events of Black Ops 2. The campaign will bring back David Mason as the lead character, once again facing off against the notorious Raul Menendez. Treyarch is sticking to tradition in some areas — round-based Zombies will return — but they're also shaking things up in multiplayer.
Let’s start with the big highlight — Skirmish. This newly revealed mode is built for large-scale warfare, pitting two teams of 20 against each other on expansive maps. The leaked description reads:“Use your wingsuit to flank and reach objectives before your enemy. The first team to reach the score limit wins!”

This is the first direct confirmation of wingsuit gameplay in Black Ops 7, and while jetpacks have been ruled out, it seems Treyarch is still experimenting with vertical mobility.
The second leaked mode, Overload, is a more tactical 6v6 setup. Teams battle over a neutral EMP device that must be delivered to the enemy HQ to earn points. This mode was also highlighted in one of the leaked screenshots, where operators in futuristic gear — including what looks like a Halo-inspired helmet — are shown mid-combat.

Both of these modes were intended for an upcoming developer-only playtest scheduled for this weekend. However, thanks to the accidental app notification, players now have their first look at Black Ops 7's multiplayer, well ahead of schedule.
The leaked go beyond just mode descriptions. One screenshot features a robotic attack dog with a turret mounted on its back, suggesting new scorestreaks or AI-controlled support units may play a role. The same image (in a right corner) shows an operator seemingly mid-dive while being targeted by a player possibly equipped with an advanced movement device — fueling speculation about how mobility.

Stay tuned, as more official updates — and likely a full gameplay reveal — should be just around the corner.
