Cancelled Black Panther Game: Concept Art & Plot Details Leak After EA Shutdown

Black Panther Game

Leaked concept art and story details for the now-cancelled Black Panther game have reportedly surfaced online, revealing what could have been a bold new take on the Wakandan legacy.

The leaks come from X user @notfunEman, who reportedly gained access to the content through a confidential EA survey

The images include a wide range of concept art—some rough sketches, others polished environments—showcasing characters, locations, and pivotal scenes from the unreleased title.

Meet Azari – Son of T’Challa

One of the most striking revelations is that players would have taken on the role of Azari, the son of T’Challa. According to the leak, Azari wasn’t the only playable character, but he featured prominently in the story.

  • The game’s opening scene reportedly showed Azari engaging in ritual combat against T’Challa, mimicking traditions seen in the Black Panther film.

  • During the duel, a Skrull ship invades and kidnaps T’Challa, kicking off what was likely meant to be the central conflict of the story.

Development Shutdown

Tragically, the ambitious project will never see the light of day. EA has cancelled the game and shut down Cliffhanger Games, the studio behind the development.

Cliffhanger Games was led by Kevin Stephens, best known for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

EA has stated that it is working to reassign Cliffhanger employees to other roles, but this cancellation comes amid broader layoffs at the company, affecting hundreds of developers, including many at Apex Legends studio Respawn Entertainment.
