Team Soul claimed the championship title at the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC) 2025 BGMI Grand Finals, held on November 16 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

The event brought together 16 of the best BGMI teams in a LAN format, marking the first state‑sponsored BGMI tournament organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) in collaboration with Skyesports. For fans like us, it was a rare chance to see esports celebrated on such a grand stage, with BGMI and Counter‑Strike 2 (CS2) both featured across two weeks of competition.
Team Soul’s performance was nothing short of dominant. They crossed the Match Target Point of 139 in the 15th game and sealed their victory with a Chicken Dinner in the final match. Across the Grand Finals, they secured 4 Chicken Dinners and racked up 107 eliminations, finishing with a total of 162 points. Their consistency and aggressive playstyle made them clear favorites by the end.
True Rippers followed closely with 136 points, powered by Hydro’s incredible fragging. Hydro was recognized as the Fan Most Valuable Player (FMVP), thanks to his 42 eliminations, and walked away with a ₹50,000 prize.
Meanwhile, Nakul from Team Soul was honored as the Best In‑Game Leader (IGL) for his exceptional captaincy.

This victory marked Team Soul’s second major title of 2025, following their win at The Multiverse Series earlier in January.
The championship itself unfolded over two weeks, starting with the CS2 event from November 7–9, where Germany’s BIG Clan lifted the trophy, followed by the BGMI showdown from November 14–16.
The CS2 tournament drew over 90,000 peak concurrent viewers across official streams and watch parties, becoming the most-watched PC esports event in India.
Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports, shared: “The Chennai Esports Global Championship represents a new era for Indian esports. With the support of the Government of Tamil Nadu, we have shown that India can host world-class tournaments that match global standards while celebrating our own gaming community. S8UL’s win reflects the depth of talent in the country, and the enthusiasm for both the CS2 and BGMI championships shows that India is ready to be a serious player on the international esports stage.”
