Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has officially been announced, confirming it as a single-player, first-person survival horror game developed by Saber Interactive.

The first-look trailer dropped on July 22, showcasing a combination of sensuality, horror, and gruesome combat—all in under a minute.

The trailer wastes no time setting the tone. Opening with frontal nudity and an unsettlingly intimate sequence, it quickly transitions into a barrage of disturbing imagery: Cenobites, screaming victims, chains, and brutal melee action. It’s a chilling welcome to a world fans of Hellraiser know all too well.

As per a detailed post on PlayStation Blog, players will step into the shoes of Aidan, a protagonist navigating the dark, twisted dimension known as the Labyrinth. With the help of melee and ranged weapons—and the mystical Genesis Configuration puzzle box—Aidan must battle unholy foes to save his girlfriend, Sunny, and escape the grip of Pinhead and his terrifying Cenobite followers.

According to Tim Willits of Saber Interactive, Clive Barker has been closely involved with the project, guiding the team to ensure authenticity. From character design and lore to the disturbing balance between pain and pleasure, Barker’s signature style permeates every aspect of the game.

The game isn’t a direct adaptation of the films, but it draws heavily from the themes and atmosphere of the first two Hellraiser movies in the 1980s. It tells a standalone story that fits neatly into the franchise's universe while offering a fresh narrative experience.

Interestingly, fans had already begun speculating days before the official reveal, thanks to a cryptic 30-second teaser posted by Saber Interactive on YouTube. The video, filled with static, screaming, and the unmistakable sound of clinking chains, led many viewers to suspect Hellraiser was making a comeback. Clues within the teaser even directed fans to a mysterious website teasing the July 22 announcement.

The reveal also puts to rest rumors that the new Hellraiser project might be another 4v1 asymmetric multiplayer game, like Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th: The Game. Instead, Hellraiser: Revival is shaping up to be a deeply narrative-driven experience—likely a welcome change for horror fans looking for something more grounded and immersive.

Doug Bradley, the original Pinhead, is also confirmed to return, lending his iconic voice to the character once again. For long-time fans, his involvement is a huge nod to the franchise’s roots.

While no release date has been confirmed yet, Saber Interactive promises that it’s “closer than you think.” The game is set to be released on Xbox Series XS, PC, and PlayStation 5.

For now, horror fans can watch the trailer below and start bracing themselves—because Clive Barker’s hellish universe is preparing to open its doors once again.
