Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Struggles in Europe Despite Topping Weekly Charts

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has had a rough start in Europe, with sales figures showing a steep decline compared to both its predecessor and rival shooters.

According to data from GSD, published by The Game Business, the game’s launch week sales were down 63% compared to Battlefield 6’s debut and more than 50% lower than last year’s Black Ops 6.

We could already sense something was off when Activision’s launch communications felt unusually muted. Typically, the publisher celebrates Call of Duty’s opening week with bold announcements, but this time it only mentioned a “great response.” That silence speaks volumes, especially when paired with the game’s “Overwhelming Dislike” user score on Metacritic, making it the lowest‑rated Call of Duty entry to date.

Of course, sales numbers don’t tell the whole story. Black Ops 7 is available at no extra cost for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC subscribers, which naturally skews comparisons. Battlefield 6, by contrast, isn’t on any subscription service, meaning players had to purchase it outright. So while revenue looks weaker for Call of Duty, the actual player count may be much higher.

Interestingly, despite the disappointing percentages, Black Ops 7 still managed to be Europe’s best‑selling game of the week ending November 16, both in units and revenue. Battlefield 6, meanwhile, landed in fourth place. Ubisoft’s Anno 117: Pax Romana came in second, while EA Sports FC 26 held steady at third.

Competition has been fierce this year, with Nexon’s Arc Raiders also pulling attention away from Activision’s flagship FPS. Reviews haven’t helped either. Fans are calling it “recycled garbage” and labeling the campaign as one of the worst in Call of Duty history.

To its credit, Activision has already rolled out patches addressing gameplay frustrations, including fixes to camo challenges in Zombies mode that were far harder to unlock than intended. Still, the bigger question remains: is this dip in sales simply the result of Game Pass availability, or are players genuinely losing interest in the 22‑year‑old franchise?
