Elden Ring: Nightreign Adds Dedicated Duos Mode in Next Update - Launch Timing is Here

Elden Ring: Nightreign is officially getting a two-player mode, with FromSoftware confirming the arrival of Duo Expeditions on July 31, at 1:00 AM PDT, as part of Patch 1.02.
Until now, Nightreign only supported solo play or parties of three, which left a noticeable gap for players looking to team up in pairs. The absence of a dedicated duos mode quickly became one of the most talked-about issues in the community. While the original setup allowed players to queue with a third random teammate, it often felt like an awkward workaround rather than a satisfying experience.
Patch 1.02 aims to change that. Duo Expeditions has been designed specifically to support two-player co-op, with balance adjustments and gameplay tuning.

In addition to the new mode, the update will also bring quality-of-life improvements, including a relic filtering system that makes it easier to manage gear during expeditions.
This marks the second major update since Nightreign launched on May 30, 2025. The previous patch expanded the Wending Grace system and added more accessibility to revive items and merchant inventories.
The excitement around Nightreign hasn’t slowed down. The game sold over 2 million copies within 24 hours of launch and surpassed 5 million units globally within two months. According to a recent blog post, the entire Elden Ring franchise has now exceeded 30 million units, with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC alone crossing the 10 million mark.
Duo Expeditions will be available on all platforms on July 31, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
