Ghost of Yotei has officially gone gold, developer Sucker Punch Productions announced on Thursday, confirming that the highly anticipated sequel is locked in for its October 2, 2025 release on PlayStation 5.
The news was shared through the studio’s official social media channels, where the team celebrated the milestone with a heartfelt note: “We’re so excited to finally have reached this milestone and can’t wait for everyone to experience the beauty of Ezo on October 2nd.”
In gaming terms, a title going gold means the main development work is complete, and the final build is ready to be pressed onto discs and distributed digitally. This doesn’t rule out the possibility of a day-one patch, but it does mean the game is almost guaranteed to hit its planned release date. While last-minute delays are never entirely impossible, it’s now highly unlikely Ghost of Yotei will face any setbacks before launch.
Editions and Pricing
When it arrives, the game will be available in two versions:
Standard Edition – $69.99
Digital Deluxe Edition – $79.99
The Digital Deluxe Edition offers a bundle of in-game bonuses, including the Snake Armor, a Sword Kit, early access to Traveler’s Maps, a Charm, the Digital Deluxe Armor Dye, and a Digital Deluxe Horse and Saddle.
The Collector’s Edition is also available for pre-order globally, priced at $249.99.
There is also a Ghost of Yōtei limited-edition PS5 bundle (console, limited edition DualSense wireless controller, full game voucher) that will be available for pre-order in select regions, from September 4, at $599.99.
Will It Come to Other Platforms?
Currently, Ghost of Yotei is a PS5 exclusive, with no official word on PC or Xbox releases. However, looking at PlayStation’s past strategy, there’s reason to believe it could eventually reach other platforms. Ghost of Tsushima launched on PS4 in 2020, came to PS5 in 2021, and only landed on PC in 2024 — four years after its debut. It never made its way to Xbox.
As per reports, Sony has been increasingly open to porting first-party titles to PC in recent years, so it’s safe to expect Ghost of Yotei will arrive on more systems down the line.
Fans will get one last major look at the game during Tokyo Game Show 2025 (September 25–28), where PlayStation is expected to showcase Ghost of Yotei before launch.
For now, the important part is this: the game is done, polished, and ready to ship.
