Epic Games Store has officially rolled out gifting, just in time for the holiday season. The long‑requested feature lets players send games directly to friends, making it easier to share favorite titles or surprise someone with a new release.

The Epic Games Store, which launched in 2018, has steadily grown into a major competitor to Steam. While it already offered a wide library of games like Battlefield 6, ARC Raiders, and Fortnite, one thing Steam had over Epic was its gifting system. Fans have been asking for years when Epic would catch up, and now the wait is finally over.
According to Epic’s latest blog post, gifting works in a straightforward way. You simply pick the game you want, select “Buy as a Gift”, choose a friend from your Epic friends list, and complete the purchase. You can even schedule the delivery for a later date, which is perfect if you want the gift to arrive on a birthday or holiday morning. Once sent, the recipient has 14 days to accept. If they already own the game or reject the gift, you’ll get a refund automatically.
The system supports paid games, special editions, durable add‑ons, and eligible bundles. However, free titles, pre‑purchase offers, subscriptions, and in‑game currency are excluded.
Another nice touch is that gifting ties into Epic Rewards. When you buy a gift, you earn rewards points, and recipients can use their own balance toward redeeming gifts.
For now, gifting is limited to friends in the same region, and you must have been friends for at least two days before sending a gift. Epic has confirmed cross‑region gifting is planned for a future update, so we’ll likely see the system expand over time.
Epic’s gifting system is live now on both the PC launcher and web browser. Check out FAQs.
