Veteran actor Graham Greene, known for his powerful performances across film, television, and stage, has passed away at the age of 73.
While his career spanned over four decades and included standout roles in Dances with Wolves, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and The Green Mile, many gamers will remember him most for his unforgettable portrayal of Chief Rains Fall in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Greene’s passing on September 1, 2025, marks the end of a remarkable journey through Hollywood and beyond. According to tributes shared across social media and gaming forums, his role in Rockstar Games’ 2018 open-world epic left a lasting impression on players.
Rains Fall, the wise and pacifistic leader of the fictional Wapiti tribe, was a rare example of Indigenous representation handled with nuance and dignity in gaming. Greene’s voice and motion capture work brought the character to life, offering players a mentor figure who stood in stark contrast to the game’s more volatile anti-heroes.
Though Greene’s gaming résumé was brief, it was impactful. Red Dead Redemption 2 remains his only video game credit, though he did appear in HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation in 2023 as Marlon. Still, it’s his work in RDR2 that gamers continue to celebrate, especially now in light of his passing.
