GTA 6 is shaping up to be more than just a game launch—it’s turning into one of the biggest media events of the decade. And according to some financial analysts, it could come with a premium price tag to match.

Michael Pachter from Wedbush Securities recently predicted that GTA 6 could launch at a $100 price point, making it one of the most expensive base games ever sold. He’s not pulling that number out of thin air either—he believes Rockstar’s total development and marketing budget for the game has already surpassed $1.5 billion, and expects it to generate $10 billion in lifetime revenue, plus another $500 million annually from GTA Online.

Meanwhile, Louise Wooldridge of Ampere Analysis echoed a similar sentiment in an interview with The Telegraph, stating GTA 6 is “probably the most anticipated game of all time” and will likely be “one of the most expensive games ever made.” Those are big words—but honestly, they don’t feel like an exaggeration at this point.

The idea of a $100 game isn’t entirely new. Earlier this year, Matthew Ball from Epyllion floated the same possibility, and while it sparked debate across the industry, it’s remained a point of speculation ever since. Many gamers pushed back on the idea, and some analysts doubted whether players would really accept such a jump. But Pachter thinks GTA 6’s fan base is dedicated enough to justify it.

Pricing trends in the industry have been cautious—Microsoft recently rolled back from $80 pricing for its 2025 holiday lineup, and EA has no plans to jump that high. Some blockbuster titles like Mario Kart World have managed to sell at premium prices, but $100 as a standard remains a tough sell.

That said, GTA 6 will almost certainly have deluxe or collector’s editions crossing that mark—much like GTA 5’s $149.99 Collector’s Edition back in 2013, which inflation would push even higher today.

Reports also indicate that GTA 5 has generated $10 billion in sales over its lifetime, which comes as no surprise.
