A Fortnite-Like Halo Project in Development

In a recent video, insider RebsGaming claimed that Halo Studios is developing a standalone multiplayer-focused Halo title designed as a long-term live-service project. The insider explained that the game’s structure is “like Fortnite,” though it’s unclear whether that means a battle royale mode or simply a seasonal, evolving ecosystem.

If accurate, this would mark a major shift for Halo. Unlike Halo Infinite, which stuck to more traditional multiplayer modes, this new title would focus on continuous updates, rotating content, and live events. That approach could help Halo compete with other live-service giants while offering fans a fresh way to experience the universe.

Halo: Combat Evolved Remake

Alongside the live-service project, reports continue to circulate about a Halo: Combat Evolved remake. According to leaks, the remake is being built using a hybrid of Unreal Engine 5 and a modified Reach engine, with modern mechanics like sprinting and updated missions.

RebsGaming noted that both these games are planned for release in 2026 as part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Generative AI at the Core of Development

Insider also suggests that generative AI is playing a significant role in Halo’s development pipeline, from terrain generation to enemy behavior.

Microsoft president Brad Smith is investing billions into AI infrastructure, which could explain why Halo Studios is leaning heavily on the technology to meet deadlines. Insiders claim AI is “woven into every aspect” of development, with human developers refining the output to maintain quality.

For now, nothing is official, and fans should treat these reports with caution until Halo Studios makes its announcements at the Halo World Championship 2025 event on October 24.
