GTA 6 may still face another delay, according to new comments from game developer interviewer Kiwitalkz.

In a recent update, Kiwitalkz explained that they’ve “heard conflicting reports internally from different devs in different studios, e.g., Bangalore, Edinburgh, and San Diego.” While Rockstar is still aiming for the May 26, 2026 release date, there’s no clear consensus on whether the game will actually make it. As they put it, “it sounds like [Rockstar] are trying to hit it, but it could be delayed again.”
When pressed for more details, Kiwitalkz suggested that Rockstar is internally debating whether the date is realistic. The good news is that the game is reportedly content complete, meaning all major features and story elements are in place. The challenge now lies in quality assurance, bug fixing, and polishing. As Kiwitalkz noted, “there is an insane amount of things to test” and Rockstar knows “you only get one first impression.” With the shadow of Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled launch still looming over the industry, it’s clear why Rockstar and Take-Two are being cautious.

For context, Kiwitalkz isn’t just a random voice online. They’ve interviewed over 150 developers on their YouTube channel, including former Rockstar staff. In one of those interviews, a GTA 6 artist even weighed in on the AI debate, saying “AI can’t replace people” despite its potential uses. That credibility makes these comments worth paying attention to, even if they don’t confirm a delay outright.
The possibility of a second delay doesn’t just affect fans; it’s also a headache for other publishers. Several studios have already shifted their release schedules to avoid clashing with GTA 6. One multiplayer developer admitted their game was moved from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026, and another delay could be financially damaging. On the flip side, some studios welcomed the breathing room. The developer of Ghost of Yotei even called GTA’s move into 2026 a “great day,” since it freed up October for Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel.
The early 2026 release calendar is already crowded. Resident Evil Requiem is set for February 27, while Crimson Desert, Saros, and 007 First Light are all targeting March. Add in heavy hitters like Marvel’s Wolverine, Fable, and Halo Campaign Evolved, and you can see why timing matters so much.
For now, all eyes are on Take-Two’s earnings call tomorrow on November 6, where investors will be looking for clarity.
