Amazon Prime Gaming (now Amazon Luna Cloud Gaming) has confirmed its free games lineup for August 2026, offering members 9 PC titles to claim and keep, headlined by action RPG Steelrising and the oddly satisfying Spray Paint Simulator.

Two games are available to claim right now. Right and Down, developed by mc2games, is a minimalist roguelike dungeon crawler built around a clever gimmick: you can only move right or down. Despite that extreme limitation, it manages to pack in genuine tactical depth through card-based dungeon navigation, artifact collection, and path-based decision making. Alongside it is Hiveswap Friendsim, an episodic visual novel set in the Homestuck universe, developed by What Pumpkin Games and published by Fellow Traveller. You play as a crash-landed protagonist on the alien planet Alternia, working your way through 18 volumes of darkly comedic encounters with troll characters. It holds a Very Positive rating on Steam at 93% and is especially beloved within the Homestuck fanbase for its writing, humor, and character work.
The August headliner, Steelrising, is developed by Spiders and published by Nacon. It is a soulslike action RPG set in an alternate-history 1789 Paris, where you play as Aegis, a clockwork automaton bodyguard fighting through King Louis XVI's mechanical army. The French Revolution steampunk setting is genuinely inventive, and the combat system offers weapon variety spanning claws, hammers, and alchemy guns, alongside customizable difficulty options that make the experience more accessible than most entries in the genre. Reception landed in mixed territory, with a Metacritic score of around 68 and an IGN score of 6/10. Criticism pointed at formulaic soulslike design and bland boss encounters, but the setting and accessibility features were consistently highlighted as standout qualities.
Also dropping on August 13 is Airship: Kingdoms Adrift, developed by Revolution Industry. It is a steampunk open-world simulation where you captain a fleet of customizable airships across a sky-world of floating islands. The game blends real-time aerial combat with trading routes, fleet management, and faction politics, drawing comparisons to Sid Meier's Pirates and Starsector. It holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam at around 76%.
Pyramids and Aliens: Escape Room, another mc2games puzzle title, rounds out the week. This one sets you loose inside an ancient Egyptian pyramid to find your missing mentor while uncovering evidence of non-human builders. It holds a Very Positive Steam rating at around 83% and has been praised for its improved visuals and solid puzzle variety compared to earlier entries in the developer's series.
The August 20 batch brings two contrasting experiences. Spray Paint Simulator, developed by North Star Video Games and published by Whitethorn Games, launched in May 2025 and follows a similar satisfying loop to PowerWash Simulator. You build a painting business in Spatterville, taking on jobs across cars, kitchens, landmarks, and even giant robots, prepping surfaces and spraying them down with a range of tools and colors. Reception has been mixed at around 62% on Steam, with praise for the tactile mechanics and vibrant visuals but criticism for its short length and limited job variety.
Royal Romances: Forbidden Magic is a casual hidden-object puzzle adventure with romance and fantasy elements, aimed squarely at fans of the genre. It features a werewolf-tinged storyline with story choices that affect character fates and endings.
The month closes on August 27 with two strong finishers. Havendock, developed solo by YYZ Studio, is a cozy colony-building simulation set on the ocean. You start as a castaway on a floating platform and gradually expand your settlement through farming, fishing, resource gathering, and technology research, eventually building all the way up to an Astronomy Island. It reached its full 1.0 release in April 2025 after a solid Early Access run and holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam at around 82%.
Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, developed by ACE Team and published by Nacon, is the third entry in the Zeno Clash series. It is a third-person action adventure set in the wildly surreal world of Zenozoik, where you play as a martial artist protecting a mysterious creature through deep unarmed combat with unlockable stances and styles. Critics were divided, landing around 70 on OpenCritic, but Steam users rated it Very Positive at around 90%.

Select the game you want to claim.
Receive a redemption code tied to the respective storefront (Epic Games Store, GOG, Legacy Games, or Amazon Games App).
Redeem the code in the proper store.
The game is then added to your library forever.
Players can still claim a few titles from July's lineup before they cycle out, including In Sound Mind, XCOM: Chimera Squad, and Framed Collection.
Amazon also added several new titles to its Luna Standard streaming library this month, including Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Bluey: The Videogame, Disney/Pixar Brave: The Video Game, and Disney/Pixar: WALL-E.
