Mahavatar Narasimha, India’s biggest animated blockbuster of 2025, is now facing allegations of copying scenes from God of War (2018).

Months after the film shattered box office records and later landed on Netflix, viral posts have surfaced online claiming that some of its fight sequences bear uncanny similarities to Santa Monica Studio’s iconic Kratos vs. Baldur battle.

The debate began when an X account named Black Thunder shared a side‑by‑side video comparing the two. In the clip, Narasimha is seen being hurled through the air before crashing face‑first into the ground, an action sequence that mirrors Kratos almost frame by frame.

What follows is a series of moves where both heroes rip a tree out of the ground, clash with their opponents, and continue in near‑identical choreography.

Released in July 2025, Mahavatar Narasimha was celebrated for blending Hindu Mythology storytelling with cutting‑edge VFX. Made on a modest budget of Rs 15 crore, it went on to earn Rs 314 crore worldwide, making it the most profitable Indian film of the year.

According to netizens, the “moves, timing, and camera angles” in the Narasimha vs. Hiranyakashipu fight look almost identical to Kratos vs. Baldur. Some users on Reddit even described the sequence as “copy and pasted.” The viral post quickly gained traction, sparking heated debates about whether the film was inspired by God of War or simply lifted too much from it.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the film has faced such comparisons. Another clip circulated earlier this year highlighted similarities between Narasimha’s climax and the final battle from The Incredible Hulk. While the characters and art style are clearly different, the choreography seemed “uncannily similar,” according to fans dissecting the footage.

Produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, the studio behind hits like KGF and Kantara, Mahavatar Narasimha was their first foray into animation. For now, both studios have remained silent on the controversy.
