Meta, the company behind Facebook and WhatsApp, has announced the Meta Gaming Accelerator, a new initiative aimed at supporting small and mid-sized gaming studios across India.

Much like Krafton's KIGI and Sony's Hero Project, this program is designed to offer mentorship, resources, and global growth opportunities for emerging developers.

The program was unveiled at the Meta Marketing Summit – Gaming Edition, a platform that brought together industry leaders and innovators.

“India’s gaming sector has been on a rocket ride, thanks to mobile-first users, a booming creator economy, and breakthrough technologies like AI,” Meta said in a press release. “To keep that momentum going and unlock the next big chapter in Indian gaming, we’re launching the Meta Gaming Accelerator—an incubator designed to support small and medium-sized game developers across the country.”

To make sure the initiative reaches far and wide, Meta is teaming up with four big venture capital firms—Bitkraft Ventures, Kalaari Capital, Lumikai Fund, and Elevation Capital. These partnerships aim to give participating Indian studios a real shot at long-term success, both at home and on the global stage.

The first batch of the program will include 20 to 30 developers, which is significantly more than the initial cohorts of other accelerator programs like KIGI (4 devs) and Sony’s Hero Project (5 devs).

These chosen developers will go through a structured curriculum, diving into crucial areas like monetization strategies, user acquisition, scaling for global audiences, and using AI in game development. A key highlight here is access to Meta’s powerful AI tools, such as Llama, which can help enhance storytelling, game design, and overall gameplay experience.

Arun Srinivas, Meta India’s Managing Director and Head, explained the bigger vision behind the move. “India’s gaming community is buzzing with creativity and innovation. But to truly harness that potential, we need to bridge the gap between raw talent and real opportunity,” he said. “That’s the idea behind the Meta Gaming Accelerator—giving Indian developers access to advanced ad tools, expert mentorship, and all the know-how they need to grow their businesses and go global. By mixing Meta’s sessions with hands-on support from top VC firms in the country, we’re aiming to not just fuel local success, but also launch Indian studios into the international arena.”

The program will wrap up with a Demo Day, where participants will pitch their games to investors, Meta leadership, and other key players in the industry. Standout developers may also receive additional visibility and potential investment opportunities.
