Capcom has officially confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has sold over 10 million units worldwide.
Originally launched in June 2022, the massive expansion had first crossed the 5 million mark by 2023—and it’s only kept climbing since then.
That’s a pretty impressive number, especially when you consider that Sunbreak first arrived as a Nintendo Switch exclusive before expanding to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC a year later.
While it’s technically not a mainline sequel like Monster Hunter World, Sunbreak still packed in a ton of content—new monsters, locations, gameplay tweaks, and plenty of title updates—that clearly kept the community hooked.
Smart timing helped, too. Discounts and renewed hype around the Monster Hunter Wilds gave Sunbreak a second wind. Capcom also leaned into cross-promotions like the Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert and the Monster Hunter Bridge exhibition at the upcoming Osaka Expo 2025, all of which kept the franchise in the spotlight.
Monster Hunter Wilds: The New Heavy Hitter
If Sunbreak is the slow-burn success, Monster Hunter Wilds is the big, flashy hit. It’s already hit 10 million units sold in just its first month, making it 2025’s best-selling game in the US so far.
Together, these two titles are pushing the Monster Hunter series—and Capcom—to new heights. The publisher is on track for what could be its most successful fiscal year yet.
As of March 31, 2025, total Monster Hunter franchise sales have officially crossed 120 million units.
Capcom isn’t slowing down. Next up is Resident Evil 9, which was just revealed during Sony’s State of Play. So yeah—2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for the company.
