A new Mafia game has reportedly been greenlit at Hangar 13, according to comments made by Carina Conti, the actor behind Isabella Teresi in Mafia: The Old Country.

How Did the Rumor Start?
The information came during a Bubbly Nuggets livestream where a fan asked Conti if there would be more Mafia titles. Conti responded: “They were approved for another Mafia game. This is true. Really exciting. I’m so, so happy for them.”
So far, neither 2K nor Hangar 13 has issued an official confirmation, meaning this should be taken as an early and unplanned reveal rather than a formal announcement.
What Could the Next Mafia Game Be?
Fans and industry watchers are already weighing two main possibilities:
A direct sequel to The Old Country - Since Conti is aware of the project, some believe she could reprise her role, pointing toward a continuation of the story set in early 20th-century Sicily or expanding to Empire Bay.
A full remake of Mafia II - The 2020 Definitive Edition of Mafia II was a remaster rather than a ground-up remake, leaving many fans wanting more. Given how well the first Mafia remake was received, Hangar 13 might be revisiting the sequel next.
Playing It Safe with Mafia’s Future
Sales figures highlight why 2K would greenlight another entry. According to Alenia Analytics, Mafia: The Old Country sold over 1.2 million copies in August alone, with most purchases made on PlayStation and Steam. Its success proves that there’s strong demand for linear, narrative-driven games at a mid-range $50 price point.
That trend also fits 2K’s current strategy. Instead of risky, big-budget open-world projects like the once-rumored Mafia IV set in Las Vegas, the publisher now seems more focused on smaller-scale, lower-risk games that can reliably perform.
What Should Fans Expect Next?
Since the information only came through Conti’s casual comment, fans shouldn’t expect an official announcement in the immediate future. If the next game follows The Old Country’s three-year development cycle, a release around 2028 with a teaser in 2027 seems plausible.
For now, the only certainty is that Hangar 13 and 2K are not done with the Mafia series. Whether players return to Sicily, explore 1920s Empire Bay, or revisit Mafia II in full remake form, the franchise looks set to stay alive well into the next decade.
