NoPixel V Release Date Confirmed: Coming to Rockstar Games Launcher This September

NoPixel V will officially launch on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, bringing the next generation of the popular GTA V roleplay server to the Rockstar Games Launcher and other PC platforms.

The NoPixel team confirmed the release date nearly a year after first announcing the project. The new version is being developed in collaboration with Rockstar Games, making it a major step for the GTA roleplay community.

When Is NoPixel V Releasing?

NoPixel V will launch on September 8, 2026. Before that, players will get their first proper look at the new server through a launch trailer.

The trailer is scheduled to premiere at 5pm BST on Tuesday, September 1, exactly one week before the server goes live. It will be available through the official NoPixel website, where a countdown is currently displayed ahead of the video's release.

The NoPixel team described the project as “Unveiling nopixel V: the next evolution of GTA RP created in collaboration with Rockstar Games.

What Is NoPixel V?

NoPixel is widely regarded as one of the biggest GTA RP communities in the world. The server has traditionally operated through FiveM, allowing players to create characters and build long-running stories inside a heavily modified version of GTA V.

Players can take on roles such as police officers, criminals, medics, business owners and ordinary civilians. The appeal comes from the freedom to create stories with other players rather than simply following the traditional GTA Online experience.

NoPixel V is being positioned as the "next evolution" of that formula.

The team has already confirmed several broad improvements. Players can expect new ways to travel across land, sea and air, while new locations will feature more detailed interiors. The city itself is also being refreshed with additional activity and greater depth.

Graphical improvements are another part of the package, with the team saying the "enhancements are focused on player immersion."

The project was first announced in September 2025. At the time, NoPixel confirmed that development on the fifth major iteration was underway and that Rockstar was involved. Rockstar later publicly acknowledged the project and said it was excited to support the NoPixel team as it worked toward the future of GTA RP.

How Did We Get Here?

Rockstar's push into RP did not happen overnight. Back in August 2023, Rockstar Games acquired Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, in a deal reportedly worth around $20 million. FiveM had already become a massive ecosystem by that point, at one stage hitting close to 270,000 concurrent players. That acquisition folded all of that infrastructure directly under Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

Then in February this year, Take-Two made a bigger move by shutting down alt:V, the rival GTA modding platform. Every remaining alt:V server is expected to be fully shut down by July 6. That basically leaves FiveM, and by extension Rockstar, as the only authorized multiplayer modding framework left standing for GTA V.

How Can Players Get In?

NoPixel has traditionally used a whitelist system to control access to its servers. Players cannot simply download the game and jump into the city whenever they want.

Applicants have to submit an application before they can be approved. The process can take weeks, and approval is not guaranteed. Even after receiving access, players may have to wait in a queue before entering the server.

The system is designed to maintain the quality of roleplay and prevent the server from becoming overwhelmed.

So far, the team has confirmed a general roster list on the official site, showcasing 9 creators and 421 invited players.

Existing NoPixel servers, including Public and 4.0, are expected to stay active alongside V rather than being replaced outright.

Does This Have Anything to Do With GTA 6?

NoPixel V is built entirely on GTA V, and there is no official word on any direct link or migration to GTA 6. Still, the timing has sparked plenty of speculation. GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19 this year for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. NoPixel V lands roughly two and a half months before that.

Some observers see this as Rockstar testing systems like launcher integration and high concurrency stability that could shape how roleplay fits into GTA 6 Online down the line. Rockstar's own language about supporting "the future of GTA RP" certainly hints at bigger plans ahead.

For now, NoPixel V could help PC players keep the GTA RP community active during the final months of GTA V’s life cycle, until whenever GTA 6 arrives on PC.
