Rockstar Games is finally kicking off the marketing campaign for one of the biggest game launches in history.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM ET, before becoming available for free on Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website six hours later at 9:00 PM ET.

The presentation arrives just months ahead of the game's November 19, 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S [Check All Editions].

This marks Rockstar's first major video presentation since Trailer 2 in May 2025.

Rockstar and Netflix have yet to reveal the runtime or exact content of the presentation, but the title "An Extended Look" suggests something more substantial than a traditional cinematic trailer.

Reports and industry insiders expect a longer showcase featuring gameplay, a deeper look at protagonists Jason and Lucia, the state of Leonida, driving, combat, NPC interactions, and other gameplay systems. Many fans see this as the major GTA 6 update they've been waiting for after months of silence.

Why Is GTA 6 Trailer Debuting on Netflix?

This is a first-of-its-kind timed exclusive for a major video game reveal on a streaming platform. Netflix framed it as recognizing GTA reveals as "cultural moments" and positioning the service as a home for ambitious storytelling across mediums.

Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s VP of Nonfiction Series, stated:

"Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first. It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience."

Industry reports also point to a possible exclusivity partnership, while Rockstar and Netflix have previously collaborated through Netflix Games, which offers titles such as GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition and Red Dead Redemption.

The six-hour exclusivity window allows Netflix subscribers early access before the presentation becomes free for everyone.
