The new project from Brendan Greene, best known as the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), marks a bold departure from the battle royale formula that made him famous. Instead of fast‑paced competitive matches, Greene is inviting players into a slower, more personal journey of survival in a procedurally generated wilderness.

This single‑player, open‑world survival roguelike is all about emergent storytelling. Every run feels different because the world is generated anew each time. You’ll be crafting, exploring, and managing resources while battling hunger, thirst, and the elements. It’s a dramatic shift from PUBG’s chaos, but one that emphasizes endurance and creativity over reflexes.

The game unlocks globally today at staggered times:

  • Free Roam – a relaxed mode where you can explore without worrying about hunger, thirst, or hypothermia.

Customization and Tools

Players can tweak their runs with custom game settings, adjusting weather, spawn rates, and day/night cycles. A Map Editor is also included, letting you design rivers, lakes, or even import PNG images to generate maps. On top of that, map seed sharing allows you to share breathtaking views with friends, and a save system is being finalized so you can pause and resume your journey.

Price and Availability

Prologue: Go Wayback! is not free‑to‑play. It’s available for purchase at $20 during Early Access on Steam. The game is strictly single‑player, with no multiplayer or co‑op modes planned. Console release is also not planned yet.
