PS5 Pro's Upgraded PSSR Is Coming to Over a Dozen Games, Including Crimson Desert

Sony is rolling out an upgraded version of PSSR, the PS5 Pro's AI-powered upscaling technology, to a growing list of games starting this week.

PSSR, which stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, uses AI to analyze and upscale the console's base output, resulting in sharper and more stable visuals.

Sony first announced the upgraded version of PSSR last month, with Resident Evil Requiem being the first title to support it at launch. Now, that list has grown significantly, and it includes some heavy hitters.

Sony's upgraded PSSR is coming to 14 PS5 Pro games

According to a new PlayStation blog post, the upgraded PSSR is heading to the following games:

  • Silent Hill 2

  • Silent Hill f

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard

  • Control

  • Alan Wake 2

  • Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2

  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

  • Nioh 3

  • Rise of the Ronin

  • Monster Hunter Wilds

  • Dragon's Dogma 2

  • Crimson Desert

  • Assassin's Creed Shadows

  • Cyberpunk 2077

The upgrade is being delivered through a PS5 system software update that began rolling out in phases on March 16 at 10:00 PM Pacific Time. If it has not shown up on your console yet, just give it a little time. Sony confirmed it will gradually become available to all users.

Not every game on the list gets the update at the same time. Crimson Desert, for instance, will have it ready right at launch on March 19. Assassin's Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 will follow in the coming weeks.

CD Projekt Red confirmed that the "technological update for the PS5 version of the game is coming in the not-too-distant future," and told fans to keep an eye out for more details "in the coming weeks."

One of the more interesting names on the list is Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. The game was previously an Xbox console exclusive, so seeing it benefit from PS5 Pro's enhanced PSSR is a notable moment.

Sony's partner studios behind this rollout include Konami Digital Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Remedy Entertainment, Ninja Theory, Square Enix, Koei Tecmo Games, and Capcom, among others.
