For BGMI players in India, the wait is a bit longer. According to reports, the patch is expected to arrive around May 21, 2026, though Krafton India has not officially confirmed that date yet.

Erangel Gets a Mythology Makeover

The most visually striking part of this update is what happens to Erangel. Four major locations, Yasnaya Polyana, Ruins, Ferry Pier, and Mylta, have been redesigned with a Greek and Roman aesthetic. Marble columns, temples dedicated to Olympian gods, gladiator barracks, and war banners now replace the map's familiar Eastern European look.

Sightlines and hot-drop patterns shift alongside the new structures, which means squads will need to rethink their rotations and early-game positioning.

Ruins and Ferry Pier receive complete architectural redesigns, while Yasnaya Polyana and Mylta see partial upgrades focused around special trial zones.

Nimbus Island and the Centaur Boss

The standout new addition is Nimbus Island, a floating sky location officially called Crown's Abode. Players earn access by collecting Glory Medals, which are gained through kills, revives, and completing trials, and by ranking within the top four of the lobby after accumulating 100 points.

Once on the island, squads can find premium loot, additional revival opportunities, and two new active abilities. Heart of Fury provides a direct combat boost, while Spartan Flag expands a team's buff zone.

The centrepiece of the island, though, is the Centaur boss encounter. The Centaur features two distinct forms, Light and Dark, and comes with a full backstory that players will uncover through the season. Squads have three minutes to take it down. Defeating it rewards a Centaur ally, rare supplies, and powerful temporary abilities (healing, arrow detection, riding) not available anywhere else on the map.

Interestingly, the Centaur is voiced by Christopher Judge, known for performing Kratos in the latest God of War series. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t an official God of War crossover; Judge is simply lending his voice to the boss character.

The Divine Trials System

Four named trials are scattered across the map, each tied to a figure from Greek mythology.

  • The Achilles Trial puts players in a high-speed hunt mode, eliminating phantoms to gain ancient combat skills.

  • The Spartan Trial tasks squads with defending a battle flag against waves of enemies, which, upon completion, grants an Unyielding State buff that can delay knockdowns.

  • The Icarus Trial is a timed parkour climb across elevated terrain that unlocks temporary flight abilities.

  • The Gryphon Trial rounds out the set with its own set of objectives and rewards.

Completing these trials earns Glory Medals and grants access to the Sacred Fire, which in turn unlocks unique tactical abilities, including flight using wings, a high-speed dash for aggressive positioning, and a Flag ability to help squads coordinate pushes.

Successfully finishing trials and gathering enough Glory allows squads to ascend to the Crowns to compete against other teams for the title of Champion.

New Vehicle: The Fire-Horse Chariot

The themed vehicle this update is the Fire-Horse Chariot, powered by two magical fire horses. It reaches a top speed of 85 km/h on the ground, making it a solid choice for rotations. Its standout feature is the ability to briefly take flight when the chariot reaches full power.

A two-seater convertible Roadster is also arriving in the update, built for high-speed movement on open roads and featuring an automatic turbocharger mechanic.

Weapon Balance Changes

The 4.4 update brings meaningful shifts to the weapon meta.

Major balance overhaul:

  • Snipers/DMRs buffed: No damage drop-off at long range + extra armor damage.

  • Shotguns nerfed: Faster damage falloff, wider spread, less armor damage.

  • ARs adjusted: Stronger at close-mid range, weaker at long range (M16A4 & Mk47 unaffected).

New/Added Weapons:

  • Mk47 (7.62mm, two firing modes) — Available on Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok.

  • JS9 SMG — Now standard ground loot (especially on Erangel).

  • Panzerfaust (rocket launcher) — Added to Erangel, Miramar, Rondo, Vikendi. Strong vs. vehicles.

Collaborations Lined Up for May

The month surrounding the update is packed with crossover content. The Harley-Davidson collaboration, officially announced by Krafton and Level Infinite, brings the iconic CVO Road Glide ST into the game with premium styling and themed cosmetics. It goes live on May 13 for PC and mobile, with console players getting access from May 21.

A Ford collaboration also kicks off on May 13, centered around a Motor Cruise event. It introduces the Ford Mustang GTD and Ford F-150 Raptor R, along with Ford-themed skins, outfits, weapon finishes, and what is described as the game's first-ever Monster Truck vehicle finish. The event runs through July 7.

The Blue Lock anime crossover is the biggest IP tie-in of the patch. It begins May 22 and brings character-inspired outfits based on Yoichi Isagi, Seishiro Nagi, Meguru Bachira, and Rin Itoshi through a 500 UC Prize Path progression system. Players who log in from May 14 onward can access early Blue Lock rewards ahead of the main event.

On the speculation front, PUBG Mobile Japan posted a mystery silhouette on May 8 that fans believe could be Hololive VTuber Usada Pekora. The post used Cover Corp copyright text at the bottom, which has fueled belief that a second PUBG Mobile and Hololive crossover is in the works. Pekora previously appeared in the game in January 2024 as a voice card during the 3.0 update. A full character skin has not been confirmed yet, but the community is watching closely.

The Gilt Set, an upgradable Spartan Conqueror-themed outfit with matching weapon skins, serves as the premium cosmetic centerpiece of version 4.4. Ranked Season 30 also kicks off on May 13, giving competitive players a fresh ladder to climb alongside all the new content.
