Red Dead Redemption is officially set to receive an upgraded release across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, mobile devices, and even Netflix, with Undead Nightmare included.
Rockstar Games confirmed the news on November 13, surprising fans with a rollout that begins December 2, 2025.

According to Rockstar, the new versions will feature the complete single‑player experiences of both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, along with bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.
The upgraded release is being developed in collaboration with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games.
This marks the franchise’s debut on iOS and Android, with Netflix subscribers able to download the game at no extra cost.
For console players, improvements include 60FPS gameplay, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. The Switch 2 version will also benefit from DLSS, HDR, and even mouse controls, showing Rockstar’s intent to take advantage of new hardware.
If you already own the PS4, Xbox One, or original Switch versions, you won’t have to pay again. Rockstar confirmed free digital upgrades, with save data carrying over so you can continue your journey without starting fresh.
For PlayStation fans, the game will also be added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on December 2, while GTA+ members can access it through the Games Library.
For those who haven’t played it yet, Red Dead Redemption follows John Marston’s struggle to leave behind his violent past, while Undead Nightmare throws players into a zombie‑infested frontier where survival means finding a cure. Both stories remain iconic, and now more players than ever will be able to experience them.
This announcement comes as Rockstar continues to deal with the delay of GTA 6, which was pushed from May to November 2026. Reports suggest the studio wants to avoid a buggy launch, learning from industry missteps like Cyberpunk 2077. While fans wait for GTA 6, this upgraded Red Dead release feels like a welcome gift.
With Red Dead Redemption 2 recently becoming the fourth best‑selling game of all time, it’s clear the franchise still has massive appeal. Now, whether you’re on console, mobile, or Netflix, you’ll be able to saddle up with Marston once again.
