Resident Evil: Survival Unit, Capcom’s latest mobile spin-off, has already crossed a major milestone, hitting two million downloads within ten days of its launch on November 18, 2025.
The news was shared on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on November 28, celebrating what the developers called “outstanding global results.”

A Strong Start for Mobile Horror
Developed in collaboration with Aniplex Inc. (a Sony Music Entertainment subsidiary) and Joycity Corporation, the free-to-play survival horror title was released on both iOS and Android. Even before launch, the game had surpassed two million pre-registrations, showing hype surrounding its debut.
To mark the achievement, players are being rewarded with a special promo code: “2m Survivors”, which unlocks in-game bonuses.
The story follows an unnamed biotechnology graduate who arrives in Raccoon City searching for his missing parents, only to wake up in a mysterious hospital after being used as a test subject by the Umbrella Corporation. From there, the narrative unfolds in a parallel world to the main series, bringing back familiar faces like Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, Ethan Winters, and Carlos Oliveira.
Reports are that Chris Redfield, Excella Gionne, and an adult version of Sherry Birkin are also joining the expanding roster.
This mix of new storytelling with iconic characters has clearly resonated with fans. Compared to past Resident Evil mobile releases, the success is striking. For example, Resident Evil 7 on iOS struggled in 2024, selling fewer than 2,000 copies in its first ten days, while its free-to-start version managed 83,000 downloads. Survival Unit has blown past those numbers with ease.
The next big entry in the series, Resident Evil Requiem, is set to launch on February 27, 2026, for consoles and PC. Earlier this month, Capcom reassured fans that the team is working hard to ensure the game performs smoothly on PC, especially after technical issues plagued Monster Hunter Wilds.
