The push for Roblox to take child safety more seriously just hit a big milestone. Congressman Ro Khanna’s petition, which calls for more transparency from Roblox, has now gathered nearly 100,000 signatures as of August 19.
What started as a community-driven effort alongside YouTuber Schlep and streamer KreekCraft is quickly turning into a major movement — and the next goal is even bigger: 1 million signatures before Roblox’s annual developer conference on September 5–6.
Khanna shared the news in a TikTok video, thanking supporters and urging more players and parents to get involved. His message was clear: Roblox needs to do better.
"We’re almost at 100,000 signatures for our petition. Let’s keep going to keep kids on Roblox safe, to enforce the law against predators, and make sure parents are kept in the loop about safety. Roblox has a major developer-creator conference coming up September 5th and 6th. I want them to outline a concrete plan for safety and a concrete plan for how they’re going to go after predators at that conference. And before, I want us to get to 1 million signatures before the conference. Let’s keep going. Thank you for what everyone is doing on Roblox. It is making a difference. You are making a difference. Keep going," Khanna said.
The petition lists four key demands:
Roblox must do more to protect children.
Parents need more tools and support.
Law enforcement should get stronger cooperation to catch predators.
Developers and creators deserve a real seat at the table when safety policies are made.
This campaign follows months of mounting controversies around Roblox’s handling of safety. Popular YouTuber Schlep, who has been vocal about exploitation and moderation issues on the platform, was banned earlier this month — a move that sparked backlash from fans who felt Roblox was silencing criticism.
Adding to the heat, Roblox is also facing multiple lawsuits, the most recent one in Louisiana, accusing the company of failing to protect children from predators and unsafe interactions. These cases have further fueled calls for reform, with parents and lawmakers demanding more accountability.
Meanwhile, longtime creator and streamer KreekCraft stepped back from the Roblox Star Program over frustrations with the company’s lack of response to safety concerns. He also continued to lend support to the petition.
Schlep, reacting to the latest petition milestone, said: “Almost 100,000 people have signed asking Roblox for more transparency for their child safety issues. This fight isn’t over, though.”
With the developer conference around the corner, the spotlight is firmly on Roblox. The question is whether the company will address these concerns head-on with concrete plans — or risk further damaging trust with its massive player base and community of creators.
