Roblox Opens Licensing Manager to All Eligible IPs and Creators

Roblox has announced the rollout of the next phase of its IP licensing platform, expanding access for creators and IP holders worldwide.

This update builds on the program’s initial launch earlier in July, when it partnered with major names like Lionsgate, Netflix, Sega, and Kodansha to allow developers to build experiences around popular franchises such as Squid Game, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Attack on Titan.

The biggest highlight of this phase is the introduction of a self‑serve License Manager. Now, "any" eligible IP holder can sign up, list their properties, set revenue terms, and approve projects directly without needing to negotiate through Roblox’s internal team.

For creators, this means browsing available IPs, applying for licenses, and even receiving automated approvals for straightforward cases. I think this is a huge step forward, as it lowers barriers and speeds up the process.

Roblox is clearly betting big on this system. In its Q3 2025 earnings, the company highlighted that licensed experiences already drive higher retention and spending compared to regular content. That’s a strong business angle, and it suggests we’ll see more premium experiences popping up soon.

Since July, the licensing platform has already processed over 1,500 license requests from creators. Experiences based on franchises like Twilight, Saw, Blue Lock, and Now You See Me have gone live. Roblox pointed out that Squid Game by Mr Ducky Studio has been favourited more than 1.6 million times, while Pocket Lobster’s Blue Lock: Rivals has surpassed four billion visits. Numbers like these show just how powerful IP‑driven content can be on the platform.

As Roblox explained, this “democratisation of access” is meant to bring greater diversity and flexibility, solidifying the platform as a hub for global IP and creative development. Whether you’re a creator looking to adapt your favorite series or an IP holder wanting to expand into gaming, the new self‑serve system is now available through the Roblox Creator Dashboard.
