Roblox has initiated one of the largest username reset waves in its history by removing names that contained the number “69,” a figure widely recognized as a sexual reference.

Reports began surfacing around November 8/9 on Reddit and other community forums, where users shared screenshots of emails received from Roblox. These messages stated that their “behavior broke the rules,” with a moderator note explaining that their username or display name was deemed inappropriate and automatically replaced with a placeholder (such as “User123456”).
Roblox clarified that affected players could change their usernames free of charge this time, but any future changes would require payment. Many players expressed frustration, noting they had used these names for years without issue and were never warned prior to the sudden reset.
Fortunately, accounts were not permanently banned; only the usernames were impacted. Still, the scale of the reset has sparked widespread debate, with some users speculating that millions of accounts may have been affected, calling it the biggest reset wave in Roblox’s history.
Although Roblox has not issued a direct public statement on the “69” purge, the move appears consistent with its ongoing child safety initiatives and heightened moderation efforts. According to online discussions, some players believe recent legal scrutiny, including lawsuits such as the one filed by the state of Texas, may have influenced the company’s decision to enforce stricter rules on usernames.
