Rockstar Games has quietly removed Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App from both Google Play Store and Apple App Store, ending its seven-year run as a handy second-screen tool for one of the most acclaimed open-world games of the last decade.
According to Rockstar’s official support page, the app was delisted on August 19, 2025. As reported by GameRant, those who already downloaded it can still access it through their Apple or Google account purchase history. This also applies to anyone who bought the in-app digital version of Red Dead Redemption 2: The Complete Official Guide — it will remain available in their library.
First launched in 2018 alongside the game, the companion app was designed to sync directly with your console or PC session. It offered a real-time interactive map, allowing players to pan, zoom, set waypoints, and mark points of interest without pausing the game.
It also displayed Arthur Morgan’s core stats live, provided access to his in-game journal, tracked progress via Rockstar Social Club, and included a full digital game manual. For those who wanted more, the Piggyback-authored official guide was available as an optional purchase within the app.
The removal comes on a bittersweet day for the Red Dead community. News also broke that Graham Greene, the actor behind the wise and dignified Chief Rains Fall, has passed away at the age of 73. His performance remains one of the standout portrayals in the game’s narrative, making the timing of these updates particularly poignant for fans.
In related developments, speculation is swirling that Red Dead Redemption 2 could arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, though Rockstar has yet to confirm any such plans.
